Val was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006. At that time it was already in her lymph nodes and the doctors expected her to live only two and a half years.

In 2011 cancer was found in her liver and bones. At that time hundreds of Val’s loved ones answered a survey about their extraordinary pal: how they met, what comes to mind when they think of her, how she helped them, and ideas for honoring her in whatever time we had.
