TRIBUTES
Those who love Val are paying her tribute in beautiful and amazing ways, a handful are featured below:
Song Fireflies in Brooklyn written & sung by Jacob Church
A note about the song from the artist: The title, "Fireflies in Brooklyn," comes from a conversation {Emily} and I had last year where [she] mentioned the fireflies were out in Brooklyn, and I was blown away at the thought of there being fireflies there. But it was only because I hadn't been to Brooklyn during firefly time that I hadn't seen them, and I thought that was a great metaphor for how Val (and [Em]) approached life. She intentionally put herself in joy's path, rather than waiting for it to come to her.
This is just a rough demo. The vocal's too loud, and I'll record a studio version soon, but I wanted to send it along. Hope you enjoy it.
